I am a major cookbook collector, in fact, I read cookbooks like you might read a novel, I compare recipes, I write down tips and tricks, I’m virtually obsessed! And as much as I know I can get just about any recipe on line these days, I can’t help it, I love a book, writing in the margins, turning a page and finding the stains from years past there…so I have a very long list of cookbooks that I’d recommend and Amazon has made it astonishingly easy to give you a list of these (Amazon is amazing!).
If you are buying a cookbook, don’t be afraid to choose a used book, I’ve purchased cookbooks for $3 on Amazon before! In fact, I purchased a Lydia Bastianich cookbook for five bucks (hardcover) to get it and find that Lydia had actually signed the copy!! Nice.
Rye Bread:
This book makes homemade bread so easy:
1. Put flour, yeast, salt and water in bowl and mix
2. cover and let rise 2 hours
3. Put in fridge
4. Ready to bake? Just take a hunk of the dough, let it sit out for 20 minutes and pop it in the oven. Wow!
